Me and Mikey

I am quiet yet outspoken. I am shy yet outgoing. I am serious yet fun. I am as gentle as a dove yet as fierce as a tiger. I am as changeable as the weather. I can drive someone up the wall. I am as faithful as a dog. I am as jealous as a cat. I am as lazy as a lobster. I am as stubborn as an ox. I am as good as gold. I am quick-tempered. I am rude. I am good-hearted. I am not a bad egg. Butter wouldn’t melt in my mouth. I am sometimes a dark horse. I have a mind of my own. I am me.

I wanted to cook for us last night. I didn’t have class yesterday night. I skipped running and spent some time in the kitchen instead. I cooked spaghetti, watercress soup and steamed tofu + peanut. I forgot to buy tomatoes, onions and garlic for the spaghetti sauce (duhhhh)! So I ended up using those pre-made spaghetti sauce. End result? Pheww I was disappointed with my spaghetti. But the steamed tofu + peanut was nice!

My cat has been wheezing a lot more often (almost everyday) ever since I changed house. I don’t think it’s hairball problems. It could be because of dust or the newly painted walls. I want to bring him to the vet very soon for some blood tests. I suspect he may have asthma or some other respiratory problems. Well he doesn’t look sick but it could be an internal health problem.

This is when he wheezes or coughs.
This was the day when I brought him over to the new house. He has never done that before and this made me worried. I don’t think it was a voluntary action. I think it was a stress attack because of a new house environment. Anyone knows? He only did that on that day.
I wish I were a vet. I think this is the only thing that I regret in life.
Last Saturday, I moved some of my stuffs to the new place. I still have some bulky stuffs to bring over (my cat’s huge cage, my study table, my bookshelf, my elliptical machine and 2-3 more boxes of personal belongings). Well I like the new place. It’s 5 mins walk to the mrt, there are two 24 hr coffee shops downstairs and it’s 20 mins run to East Coast beach! Makes me want to stay in the East next time when we buy our house :> Let’s take a peek at my new room! hehe
BEFORE!

And NOW!

I painted bedframe wall (plum satin) and the wall that opposes it (lilac white). Most of the stuffs were bought from IKEA — bedtable ($29), poster ($19), bedlamp + bulbs ($40), carpet ($19), queen-size quilt cover ($49), 4 low pillows ($3.95 each). Thanks to dearest sis who bought most of these for me! There are 6 pillows on the bed! hahha. The TV is at the other side of the room. I will show some pics of other rooms + videos another time!

Mikey was very scared when I brought him on Saturday. I think he suffered from “stress attacks” because his breathing was hard and fast and from time to time he would open his mouth and show his tongue (will upload a video of him doing that soon). I was quite worried because I’ve never seen him in such state before. Well he is back to his normal state now – playful and all. He enjoys sleeping on my bed haha. Yeh he takes half the bed!
————————-
I went to Singtel today for a new line + broadband package. I will only get the internet next week :<
I saw it coming… sooner than later. Darling popped the question on Tuesday night (Valentine’s eve) and Mikey was the “ringbearer”. He had quietly placed the ring around Mikey’s collar while I was inside the kitchen. My cat didn’t know what was going on of course.

So after I came back from the kitchen, darl asked me to bring Mikey, who was then eating, to him. That’s when I saw the ring and immediately after, he asked me if I wanted to marry him :> “YES of course!”. It was a nice surprise indeed! But I kind of had a feeling that darl was hiding something because he has this smile that he can’t hide when he tries to give me a surprise :> I know my baby too well. This is the 2nd time that he proposes to me. The first time was an unofficial one done last August on top of Mt Signaux during our holidays in Mauritius :>
Well … who would have thought that the guy whom I started dating 5 years ago would become my husband one day :> I am indeed happy! We are! But something very sad is due to happen any time soon — it’s dear’s father who has been battling cancer since last year and he is in his final stage already … This Sunday we will have a small tea ceremony at his father’s place. This Sunday it’s Chinese New Year too. So happy early Lunar New Year!!
Weekend came and weekend went. I stayed over at Bedok during the weekend to clean the place. A lady came to help me with the kitchen, which was the most tedious part to clean. I am planning to start shifting some of my stuffs this weekend and stay over there next week (and bring Mikey along too!). Yoohooo I am on 1 week holiday next week. Well we are forced to take 3 leave days for Chinese New Year…
Picture below: This is the dining corner of the kitchen. Yup I repainted the wall: Light green for the main part and light turquoise for the border part. The main part should have been a little darker i.e a darker turquoise. Oh well.

You know what. A bangladeshi foreign worker slapped my butt! By the time I turned to look back, they were all acting normally as if nothing had happened. So I did not see who the culprit was — fortunately for him but unfortunately for me as I would have loved to kick him in the groin. Oh it was inside a small Indian restaurant near Farrer Park mrt while my guy friend (who was in front of me) and I were queuing up at the cashier.
So we painted the whole living room, part of the kitchen and part of my room. First, we removed any wall frames, placed all furnishings in the middle of the room and covered the floor with newspaper to protect it from paint splashes. Next, we wiped the wall to remove the dust. Then we masked off the parts of the wall that we want to protect using masking tape. After that we started painting :>
We started at 11am and ended at around 7pm. My feet were sore!! I must thank my siblings, Jonathan, Althea and dear for helping me out and saving me so much time! I enjoyed painting. It was fun! Dear and I are opposites when it comes to painting. I am the detail-oriented type and he’s the rash type :>

Here, I’m painting the main gate. We have to use oil based paint for metal surfaces. I really did not enjoy working with oil based paint. I had a hard time getting rid of all the paint that dripped onto my hands (sticky feeling).
I will reveal the end result some other time because the house is in a real messy right now & I’m not completely done with the painting (need to retouch some parts). I’ve already spent one night at the new place! I stayed there on Saturday night because I still had some few things left to paint on Sunday. Well my first night there was not bad. I asked dear to tag along with me.
Other than painting, I did not do anything else during the weekend. I went for a long run on Sunday afternoon. The weather was great . It was cloudy and I didn’t feel like I was running at 4pm (it’s usually quite hot at this time). I am not really into running right now but I do run on and off. The other day I felt like running up the stairs, so I went to a 25 storey HDB flat and ran up 4 times. I am planning to increase it to 5, 6, 7 etc. times next time.
A few months ago, the vet told me that my cat has to lose weight (he was 8.3kg then and 9kg even before). So I started feeding him with ‘light’ cat food and tried to make him run more (i.e play more). Today, Mikey weighs 7kg. Yep he lost some weight and is even more active (he can now jump higher than last time) : >
